Windows 10: Ps4 controller is connected, but not recognised

I used to play with my ps4 controller via an USB connection all the time. At one point, the controller was being recognised showed up in Bluetooth & Devices section, as well as in Devices and Printers in Control Panel, but any input stopped being recognised. Applications that edit controller mapping did not recognise the device as an controller, no input is being received. I tried restarting the controller, uninstalling some drivers, nothing really worked. The controller can connect to my phone's bluetooth so I'm assuming the controller is not the issue. PS4 Controller (bluetooth) connection issues

My PS4 controller, which worked perfectly fine with my laptop until today, now won't connect properly. I try to connect the controller, and the controller just turns off. On my laptop it says the controller is connected, but the controller is obviously not.

My drivers are all updated.

I've already tried basic steps like restarting the computer.

What should I do?

I can connect the ps4 controller just fine, my issue is that it wont show up at all after being paired. I have to unpair it, connect the device, enter the 4 digit code, it gets very tiresome. Method 1 didn't work because I had no greyed out devices. Method
2 I have been doing, I am just trying to figure out a quicker way to connect it.

 

PS4 controller not being recognised by applications

I am currently at school at the moment, and dont have my controllers on me,

But i can confirm that I have tried several different ps4 controllers, and the controller is not recognised not just by one, but all of my apps. Steam and DS4 windows.

Also how do i create an "alternate test account." What exactly does that mean?

Also what do you mean by "check whether the device is correctly recognized in the device manager" are you asking if the controller appears at all or if it is correctly recognised as something else other than what im seeing?

Also

All apps are up to date. For example, Geofs, a chrome based flight simulator, can recognise controller, but none appears, steam doesn't (that is up to date as well) and DS4 Windows (also up to date)
