Windows 10: Public Wi-Fi login fail, DHCP DNS 8.8.8.8

I recently have encountered twice the same issue: when connecting to public Wi-Fi connections requiring login confirmation, the DNS assigned via DHCP was always 8.8.8.8 Google DNS on my Windows 11 23H2 laptop. My cellphone iOS 17.5.1 always gets the correct DNS local IPv4 address and thus I manually changed the DNS on my laptop to proceed to the login page.Any recommended procedures for me to check if it is my setting/software issue, so I can reset/uninstall to avoid this happening a third time?Thank you very much for your help!

Windows 8/10 Can't connect to Wi-Fi

There are heaps of possible causes for network problems, too many to list here.

Your first stop should be in Windows Update, Optional section, to check whether
any drivers are listed for your hardware.

Once Windows is fully patched, go over all the methods listed in the following
network trouble-shooting articles, and let us know the results :

The most useful methods are repeated in all the above three trouble-shooting articles,
so just look for ones you have not tried yet.

Before doing any modifications to your system, ensure your backups are in shape,
and create at least a system restore point.

You can also delete the wireless adapter in the Device Manager and reboot,
so Windows can choose its own driver.

I have a widows 8 phone and have been unable to sync to Zune by wi fi. It works ok on windows 7 and 8 by usb. The pc is dual boot on windows 7 or 8 and is running on settings for home network not public access.



Question will it sync by wi fi?
