Windows 10: Purchased movies do not work unless connected to the internet

I recently purchased a hand full of movies in digital format through the Microsoft Store because my Surface tablet does not have a DVD drive and lugging one around seems like it detracts from the purpose of the Surface. As I have expanded by digital collection exclusively through Microsoft I have found on my most recent work trip where I was without internet connectivity for personal use that none of my purchased NOT RENTED videos downloaded to my devise or external hard drive worked. How am I able to fix this before I deploy for an even greater extended period. If I am unable to actually purchase the movies like a DVD and watch it at my personal convenience then how would I go about "returning" the movie for a refund?

I purchased the movie that was listed as a streaming source which connected me to Microsoft.com the movie website was flicks.co.nz

 

Can't download the movie I purchased for rental.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to download rented movies offline and check if that helps.

Steps:

1. Select the movie you want to rent and click on
   rent option.
2. Login using Microsoft account.
3. Once you have signed in, you will have two option
   to stream or download movies to this device to watch offline.
4. Select download movies to this device to watch offline and click on next.
5. After Choosing the Next option and you will be asked for the payment option.
6. Once the payment it done, open Movies & TV application to download the movie.

You will be able to watch the movie offline from
Movies and TV application. When you rent, the viewing period is 14 days from the time of your order or 24-48 hours from the time you start to watch (depending on the content you select), whichever comes first.



If you still facing issues downloading the movies after following the above steps. I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below, to fix issues with Microsoft store.



Steps:

• 1. Open store application on your pc.
  2. Click on the ellipses on right top corner of the screen.
  3. Logout and login back.

Saving movies I have purchased.

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

Once you purchase or rent movies from the Store, it will be added to Movie and TV app. So that you can watch them. It will be there forever if you buy the Movies and you need internet connection and a Microsoft account to watch, so you need to download on
the computer to watch offline.

• Quickly find, play, and manage your video library
• Watch videos in all the latest file formats
• Access the videos you’ve rented or purchased from the store.
• Play your rentals and purchased videos on your Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows, Windows Phone devices, and from the web.
