Windows 10: Purged deleted folder

I deleted a large folder by accident. It was apparently too large for the recycle bin and was purged. I need it back. My backup to a Seagate external drive does not find the most recent version of the folder intact (as a separate entity) but instead shows thousands of individual files, many of which are unreadable. Any suggestions?

Trouble deleting a folder

Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.

Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


Suggestion:

• Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
  x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
• Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
• Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
• Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
  NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.

 

Deleted items purged without warning

I have observed the following behavior WRT deleted mail in a POP/IMAP mailbox on WP7:

o Delete a mail item

o Change to the deleted items folder and see that it is there

o Perform a send-receive

o The deleted items folder is purged

If what I am seeing is indeed reproducable, this is of significant concern to me as the deleted items folder is not doing what it is supposed to, i.e. holding on to "deleted" mail until explicitly purged. Can somebody please confirm whether or not this
is by design or a bug, and if a bug, how to bring it to the attention of the dev team?
