I just got this purple arrow which moves throughout the game whenever I play game called Dota 2 on steam. According to steam, it's not a steam overlay and is a 3rd party overlay, but I am having trouble finding this app that's making this arrow appear on the screen. Anyone has an idea how to get this one removed? Thanks!

    :)

    Hi Marvin,

I am R. Cord, Independent Advisor.

I hope you are doing well.

    Sincerely, based on screenshot attached,

it appears that the purple arrow is part of an overlay from a third-party application,

so be in mind, that it's difficult to determine the specific application that's causing

    What I can recommend?

Try to open task manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc or right-click on the taskbar and select task Manager

Look for any third-party applications that are running and close them one by one. After closing each application, check if the purple arrow disappears.

If you're unable to identify the application causing the issue, you could try disabling third-party applications one by one in the Windows Startup tab of Task Manager.

Restart your PC and check if disappeared!

Conclusion, there are several third-party overlay applications that could potentially create a purple arrow cursor in games

*Please note that I am not recommending any third party software, but I am telling you which ones are possible to cause this action.

    A. Nvidia GeForce Experience - GeForce experience comes with a game overlay feature that can display performance metrics and other information while playing games. It's possible that this overlay could cause the purple arrow cursor to appear.

    B. Discord has a game overlay feature that allows users to chat with friends and access Discord features while playing games. It's possible that this overlay could cause the purple arrow cursor to appear.

    C. Overwolf is a platform that allows users to install and use overlays for games. These overlays can provide features like in-game video recording, social media integration, and more. It's possible that an Overwolf overlay could cause the purple arrow cursor to appear.

    D. OBS Studio is a popular streaming software that can also be used to record gameplay. It includes a game capture feature that can display a red box around the game window while recording. It's possible that this feature could cause the purple arrow cursor to appear.

I can't say for sure which of these would be because there are others among them, so it is a difficult task, in my opinion I would deactivate the automatic start of the applications as I mentioned.

I hope I could have helped you!

    Regards,

    R. Cord

    Examples:
Wattman (and how to find and use it, like an overview, including profiles)
Unigine Valley or Heaven (use this for quick testing while changing settings in Wattman and checking for stability / artifacts) ...just suggesting this
How to monitor cores / mem speeds and temps during testing (I've seen screen overlays, and others using GPUz)
