    Put monitor to sleep not the whole os with keyboard shortcut


    I long time back, on windows 7, I found a small light weight program which, upon execution, would turn the monitor screen off sleep, but not the whole operating system. That was helpful as my physical button on the monitor was not very responsive. I am looking for a keyboard shortcut now. Is there any?

    Set keyboard shortcut to put graphics outputs to sleep?


    After a while of disuse, Windows put the graphics cards to sleep and the monitors go into stand-by. Is there a way to make this happen (e.g. using AutoHotKey) with a keyboard shortcut? I need the computer to keep running sometimes whilst I don't need the monitor(s) to be on.

    I have the same problem that Andrew, but I don't think you read the whole thing! Like myself, Andrew wants NOT TO PUT THE COMPUTER TO SLEEP!!!! Just put the monitors to sleep so the processes can still do their job, but not have the monitors lit up like
    a Christmas tree. As Andrew said, there is a setting in windows to turn off the monitors after so many minutes. Therefore there is a windows switch that can be toggled. What we are asking for is a shortcut to that switch. Windows used to have a shortcut
    do that way back in the 386 days! I have to leave my computer on all night for Insiders updates of windows 10 and a shortcut would be a lot nicer than turning the monitors off. I don't like my monitors to turn off in the mist of reading an article, so I
    do not want to lessen the time for them to go to sleep. Thank you for your response though. it is easier to ctl+L than what Andrew was doing. I took note of that too!
