Putting computer in sleep mode stops viewing my connected mp3 player

Just bought Lenovo notebook with Windows 10 Home.

On my old VISTA laptop, when I put my computer in sleep mode and then woke it up, I could always view my connected MP3 player and its files.

When I do the same with my new notebook, I have to unplug and re-plug the usb connector in order to view the mp3 files.

I tried fixing by going into device manager, power management for the USB hubs, and unchecking the "allow this computer to turn off..." setting.

    I alsodisabled this:

    I appreciate help, thanks

  2. I it possible for my server software to run in a sleep mode?

    Hello Danny,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

No, it will not be possible. Sleep Mode is a power-saving state, that allows a computer to quickly resume full-power operation (typically within several seconds) when you want to start working again. Putting your computer into the sleep state
is like pausing a DVD player—the computer immediately stops what it’s doing and is ready to start again when you want to resume working.

When PC either goes to Sleep or Hibernate Mode, it will release the connection with Network. Whenever you wake it up again, it will re-establish the network connection and will continue its job.

Keep us posted if you require further assistance.

Windows sleep mode--computer won't stay asleep

I usually manual enter sleep mode on my computer. Since upgrading to Windows 10, I can put the computer to sleep but several minutes later the computer "wakes up" again. I have no problems initially going into sleep mode. Computer fan stops, HD stops etc.
It just doesn't want to stay asleep. Any suggestions?

If you disable USB Selective Suspending and uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power', your MP3 shouldn't have any problems. Perhaps double check witch device you unchecked. *Smile

  6. Try disabling Hibernation mode in an elevated command prompt with powercfg /h off; if that doesn't work you may have to tweak some settings in your BIOS- specifically Power Management related settings. To get into BIOS/UEFI click the Windows icon, right click power and hold shift and click on Shut Down. When you power up your computer hold down F2.

Hi, tried both of your suggestions above. Turning off hibernate didnt work, and my Lenovo bios has no settings for Power Management.

Thanks for trying to help me, anyway.

Putting computer in sleep mode stops viewing my connected mp3 player

Just did two different tests, and discovered that:

    1. tried it on a second windows 10 computer in our house, and the PhilipsMP# player does not show in file manager after taking computer out of sleep mode ( the same thing as I stated above).

    2. Tried it with another brand (Sansa Mp3 player) and it works perfectly even after waking computer from sleep.

Confusing that it works on my Vista computer and not our Windows 10 computers. Must be a Windows 10 issue with Philips GoGear MP3 players??

  9. My last recommendations would be to update the driver for the MP3 on the properties page of the MP3 in device manager. Make sure to restart. If this either doesn't find an update or doesn't solve the problem then try deleting the driver and restarting. Best of Luck.

Spent an hour with Philips chat, and we decided it was a MS10 problem.
Spent at least 2.5 hours with MS chat persons (2). It was decided that the MP3 player is incompatible with Windows 10.
I suggested that MS buy me a gold-plated MP3 player, next time, at the start of the chat.
They tried their best with remote assistance as I watched and learned what they tried.

That is the end of my MP3 saga
