  1. Putting old disks into new system. Windows doesn't show them.

I've put together a new PC with an SSD and it's been working well for a couple of weeks. I wanted to put a couple of old drives out of another system into this one. One drive has a linux install (1TB drive), and the other one (2TB) was just files. I was hoping to to set up the system to dual-boot linux/windows. However, though the BIOS and Windows "sees" the drives, it hasn't assigned any drive letters to them. I wasn't expecting to be able to access the linux install, but I thought the other drive would "just work". Here's a screenshot from the disk manager.. If I right-click on the partitions shown all the options are greyed out (so I can't assign a drive letter etc). I haven't activated Windows 10 yet. Is this causing the issue? Or is there something else I could try?

  2. cko1xxxx Win User

I put in a new SSD, copied my old disk using Samsungs SW, and want to make my original disk a second disk.

I put in a new SSD, copied my old disk using Samsungs SW, installed it and want to make my original disk a second disk. My PC shows both disks but it shows my original disk as "offline" because it has a "signature collision with another disk that is online."
I assume the collision is with the new SSD but I don't know what to do to correct it. How do I get my system it recognize my old disk?

  3. Help! Data partition not showing under my computer

This is happening on a windows 2000 server. Our second partition of the system, for data is not showing under my computer. Here are the properties of it in disk management:

Now under logical drives its listed as F and shows free space available.

Suggestions on how to fix this?

  4. Putting old disks into new system. Windows doesn't show them.

Cloning a new system disk from an old (not in use) system disk...

I need to create a new boot disk for a laptop I was using. I have the Windows 10 Home system disk that WAS in that laptop. I want to take the O/S OFF that disk and put it on a DIFFERENT disk....

I plugged both disks into a different PC, fired up Easus Todo Backup and did a Clone... Copied the system partition from the old system disk to the new "going to be" system disk. Put it in the old laptop. It says 'No operating system found"

As usual, I THOUGHT this was going to trivial, and it doesn't appear to be... SO, I formatted the new system disk, and ran diskpart and set the only partition on the disk to active. Then I ran Todo Backup AGAIN to clone the disk. Stuck it back in the laptop and it STILL says "no operating system found". It takes at LEAST an hour and a half every time I do this clone, so I'm tired of doing it over and over. I HAVE the newly cloned disk sitting here. What do I need to do make it found and boot in the laptop?
