Windows 10: Q: Is it possible to remove the C drive from one PC Win7 and after connecting it to a new...

Interestingly, when I connect the Win7 Hard drive via a USB enabled SATA dock to the Win10 PC, the Win7 hard drive is not recognized. However when connected to a Mac, the folder/file structure IS visible, but the Win7 Desktop can't be found/is not visible. The Win7 PC desktop had some folder/files that I'd like to recover. Perhaps try using "Windows on a Mac" Bootcamp? to see the Desktop? Can the Desktop on a PC ever be viewed without using that hard drive to boot into Windows?Thanks for any info!

Remove hard drive with old OS (win7)

Hi

I tried to remove the SSD drive E: with the old OS (win7) so I can use it with my old motherboard/CPU as a backup PC.

But the PC doesn't boot up. I go to BIOS and choose the drive C: with the new OS (win10) but it doesn't boot up. When I connect back the E: boots up fine. Why I need the old drive to boot up?

 

WIN10 HOMEGROUP not accessible by WIN7 PCs

Hello,

I cannot connect my WIN 7(home) PCs (3 of them) to a homegoup created on a new Windows 10 (home) computer.

The WIN 7 PC see each other without any issue.

Here’s how I proceeded:

• Leave all homegroups on the WIN7 PCs
• Create a new homegroup on the WIN10 pc with the same group
• The WIN7 PCs see the new homegroup
• Click on join and enter password
• After some time I get a message that connection was not possible

I’ve also tried to create the homegroup on a WIN7 pc. The WIN10 pc can see and accept to join but the shares are not visible.

Recover from drive - just remove my files. Does it delete data from c drive only or all the drives/partitions?

i am trying to recover from USB drive. I selected option "Just remove my files" and then i see screen with following text

• All personal files and user account on your PC will be removed.
• Any apps and programs that didn't come with your PC will be removed.
• Windows will be re-installed from the recovery drive connected to your PC.
• If you've repartitioned your system drive, this will restore its default partitions.

What is the meaning of 4th point? is it going to delete all my other partitions like d,e,f ? or it will just quick format my c drive and install windows on it
