Q2: I understood that W11 Home edition would not permit activation 0f Bitlocker but it seemed to be available. If I have activated it, can I de-activate, uninstall? And will that remove the need to install KB5034441???? I do not have the skills to do this and did not I needed a qualification to buy your software.

  2. W10 Bitlocker indicates W7 OS drive?

    Good day,

I wanted to activate Bitlocker on my W10 Pro PC. On the Bitlocker section of the Control Panel and on the list of drives, under Operating System drive, "Windows7_OS (C): Bitlocker Off" in indicated. Next to that is a link to "Turn on Bitlocker".

    1) How is it that it is indicating a W7 drive when I am using W10? The W10 Pro I am now using was upgraded last year from W7 Pro. Is Bitlocker still linked to the legacy OS?

    2) Is it safe to Turn on Bitlocker now with it indicating a W7 OS drive?

Incidentally, should I activate TPM before I turn on Bitlocker, or the sequence does not matter?

Could not find any articles on my questions. Hope someone can help.

    Thank you.

  3. BitLocker...on a pre-owned device (W10 Pro)

I recently bought a pre-owned HP ProBook 430 G1. The previous owner told me he reset the device, and at the time I bought it, it was running the initial free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro (I presume upgraded from W8.1). It is now running W10 Pro, build1611 Anniversary
    Edition.

I want to activate BitLocker, but before I turn it on I need to be certain there will be no negative consequences...being locked out of the OS is not a good thing!

My understanding is that to access and operate a BitLocker encrypted drive, a password or recovery key is required...without at least one of these, the drive is essentially impenetrable, rendering all data lost.

I do not know whether the previous owner(s) used BitLocker...if they did, I do not know what their password and recovery key details were.

    My questions:

    • If the previous owner(s) had activated BitLocker (establishing a password and recovery key), and at some subsequent point they turned BitLocker off prior to my buying the device, what happens if I click “Turn on BitLocker”.....

    • will I be locked out of the system (no password or recovery key)?, or;

    • does the turning off of the BitLocker function result in all previous password and recovery key data being deleted, thus enabling me to establish new details?

Thank you in advance for all advice on this subject.

  4. Q1: If I have not activated Bitlocker on my W10 Pro PC do I really have to install update...

    Hyper-v W10 Pro OEM activation

I bought an OEM activation key for W10 Pro and applied to host OS, activated the Hyper-V, installed W10 Pro as guest OS and tried to activate it with the same OEM key. As far as I understand, the OEM key is bound to the hardware and I'm activating it in
the same PC, but an error is thrown, saying that the activation key is already used in another device. Do I really need to buy another licence?

    Thanks.
