    QIC backup on floppy


    HiI have searched unsuccessfully for a resolution and wonder if anyone can help please?I have found some old floppy disks with backup done on 06.12.1999.I think these may include photos I want to hold onto.Can anyone tell me what I can safely use please?

    I am trying to open some old .qic backup files on old floppy disks using windows 10. I downloaded File Magic and on installation it was rejected as malware by AVG anti virus. I cannot find any information re: why this app, that is supposedly sanctioned
    by Microsoft, is not safe to use. If anyone can provide some clarification on this I appreciate you help.

    You may try Windows backup to open the files however it may not be successful. You can try:

    Unfortunately there’s little other solutions available other than using the original backup utility the backup was created on.

    Thank you for the response. I have a machine running xp but it wouldn't open the file just noted that I should use the backup program used to make it. I am trying to get rid of a lot of old stuff I have from years ago and want to see what it is but don't
    remember much about what I was fooling around with 20 years ago. The File Magic software I referred to lists .qic as a file type it will open but I am hesitant to install it because of the warning from AVG so I quarantined it and have uninstalled it. In
    the meantime I will wait and see what others may have to suggest I do. Have also posted to AVG and will see what they have to say. Thanks again for your suggestion.
