Windows 10: Question about cloning drives for back-up

Hi alla bit of a stupid question here, as I am sure this is easily answered but can I clone my SSD to another SSD that I bought in order for it to be a back-up? I recently had a problem where I lost most of my documents I had stored on my PC, due to not backing up my info. I have played around and successfully cloned my drive but can this clone be considered a back-up? If the same thing were to happen, can I just clone the cloned back-up to my drive and carry on going again ?Thanks !Sean

Is it any possibility to clone BitLocker Encrypted Drive with Windows OS ?

Let me explain why I would like to remove decryption and reencryption from cloning process. The idea is to use cloning process to prepare 1:1 backup of my master OS drive. It means that cloning process will be repeated as often as possible for the same source drive, so the time of whole cloning process is very important to me.

You say "it is highly recommended", from technical point of view it suggests that cloning process does not need decryption/reencryption. Your recommendation is to do 2 steps more because "sth can go wrong". It is not my case because I still have the source disk and can repeat cloning process and check cloned drive.

The question about tool like AOMEI backup is: the tool needs my bitlocker pin to perform decryption, copy and encryption operations on the fly ? (I do not need tools working this way) If no, does it mean that such tools make "simple" copy of encrypted sectors and that's all ? My experience is different, simple copy of encrypted drive does not work. So some more additional steps are needed, those steps are big ones (decryption and reencryption) or maybe some smaller steps ...

So, I must have or it is nice to have decryption and reencryption in cloning process ?

Do You know how exactly cloning encrypted drive works on AOMEI backup ?

 

Cloning from 1TB to 2TB hard drive

Whats a good free imaging/cloning program? I have a 1TB hard drive with Win7 and I want to seamlessly migrate my stuff to a 2TB hard drive. Any suggestions?

 

Moving to SSD. Clone or not to clone?

Part of how I keep my SSD fast is to clone it to a platter drive, then clone back. You just want to make sure that you are only cloning teh used space, and not the empty space.


So, again, I isntall Windows to the ssd. Clone to platter drive, then clone back.

I am not sure why, but if I do not do the clone step, the drive's speed, and windows booting, decreases substantially within a week or so.

I am using a Corsair F60 SSD and a Western Digital 500AAKS as drives, and using the free version of Acronis that WD provides, if any of that matters. I am not sure, at this point.
