Windows 10: Question about if I can use my ms account linked windows 10 license in a different pc as...

My current windows 10 pc is having issues with the motherboard so i am thinking of installing windows 10 in another pc so i want to know if I can use my digital license there to activate it or not? I remember I have seen that my digital license is linked to my Microsoft account so can i?

How to transfer Windows 10 license to different PC and MS account

Hi Everyone, I need to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 and I think I may be able to do it via an unused Win 10 gaming PC that is around the house. It belonged to another member of the family. I have reset the unused PC and done little else with it. I have gathered the following details:

• Windows 10 Home product key
• MS account user-id and password
• confirmation that the license is a digital license
• It is: Installed from 'Full Packaged Product' media

Most of the advice I see in online searches is for people swapping their own Win 10 license to a different PC. I have seen some advice online that may be relevant e.g. my kind of transfer is not just a matter of installing and entering the Win 10 product key. Does anyone have advice or know of links to steps for this kind of a transfer? Linking Windows license with MS account - What does it do?

There's a nice and practical workaround for this.

When signed in to Windows with your local account, open any native Windows UWP app. I often use Weather app for this. Sign in to app with a Microsoft account (screenshots from Weather app):





When you have entered your MS account email, password and in case you are using two-step authentication, the verification code, click Next to add this MS account to Windows although still keeping your local account as a sign-in account:





This does not switch your Windows 10 local account to a Microsoft account. You will continue signing in to Windows with your a local account but you have now set Windows to automatically sign in to all Microsoft apps with the MS account email. Activation will now be connected to your MS account:





This allows you to transfer the license after hardware change.

 

Loophole Lets You Freely Upgrade to Windows 10 After Offer Expiry

If you upgrade your 7 install to 10, which is worth it IMHO, make sure you link to a Microsoft Account. Otherwise you might not be able to easily regain the key if they block using 7 keys in the future.

You don't need to use the Microsoft account as your profile on so you can still bypass logging in at setup and creating a local account. All you gotta do to link your 10 account to your MS install (if you choose not to use your MS account as your profile), is to simply do the following:

• Click Start
• Click Settings
• Click Update and Security
• Click Activation
• As or with Admin permissions, click Add Account
• Login with MS Account credentials.

Then you should see a message that reads:
