Windows 10: Question about MCI IP Address on my windows

Hello,


I have a question and concern that I would love if someone can explain to me.


I watched a YouTube video, which talked about how to search on command prompt for established IP addresses to make sure there is nothing concerning.


I went to my command prompt and searched netstat -ano and saw IP addresses for Microsoft and this IP Address: 72.21.81.200, which when I looked up it said this IP address is for MCI / Verizon company based in America. I was really confused about that IP address specially because I am in Canada.

When I looked at the PID in front that IP Address I noticed that the PID of that MCI is the same as the Microsoft ones. I then went into task manager, details and looked that PID and saw the program under that is SearchApp.exe which is suspended and disabled. I noticed its a Microsoft program as well.


My question is is this MCI/ Verizon IP address related to the Microsoft or windows?


I checked my father's computer and his command prompt and he has the same IP as well.

Can someone please clarify that for me cause I was very concerned.

IP Address.

Hello,

I can not find my IP Address.

Also,I can not find the Ethernet Connection on my Taskbar.

I have found my Internet Access icon on my Taskbar.

Please list the steps needed to find my IP Address.

I found "Network & Internet",in "Setting",

I then found a link,"Finding my IP Address,(Under "Have a Question?")

But,this link did not help me find my IP Address.

Finding IP address

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to find printer’s IP address:

1. Type Devices and Printers in the Windows search bar.
   
2. Select on the printer and click on
   Manage.
   
3. Click on the Ports tab.
   You will be able to find printer’s IP address under the ‘Ports’ tab.
   

Few printers also have a “Test print” option on the printer. When you print a test page from network printer, the page shows the IP address along with other details.

Note: If it is set on DHCP mode the IP address will constantly change.
The IP address is assigned automatically by your router using a protocol called DHCP.

This issue could have occurred due incorrect TCP\IP Address settings.



Try the steps listed here:



Method 1:

I suggest you to reset TCP\IP and check if it helps.

Note: Applies to Windows 10.



Method 2:

If the issue persists, I suggest you to try these steps to Flush DNS and request a new IP address from your ISP server. Check if it helps.

• 
  Click on
  Start and type cmd on start search.
  
• 
  Right-click on command prompt Run
  and selectas administrator.
  
• 
  At the command prompt, type the following commands and hit
  Enter after each command.
  

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

exit
