Windows 10: Question About Switching From HOME OEM to PRO RETAIL for Windows 10

Hi, my question is that I have Windows 10 Home OEM on my laptop but I want to switch to Windows 10 Pro Retail licensed. Do I need to reinstall Windows so I can use my retail licensed key or can I just put the key on the Settings>Activation>Change product key? Also, I do not want to reinstall because I have a lot of programs installed for my classes and I do not have the time to reinstall all of them. Can someone assist me on this?

Dude, go to Newegg right now and read the questions and answers tab on Windows 10 OEM. The OEM copies that are listed there DO in fact, come on an optical disc. The flash drive ONLY comes on Retail copies.

 

Understanding difference between OEM & Retail Windows 10 Home to Pro Upgrade if any

Hi,

I am aware that you can upgrade OEM Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro by following certain steps and paying a fee to Microsoft to get a new Pro license.

However what I am not clear is about the type of license that Windows 10 Pro then comes with after an upgrade

When I upgrade OEM Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro, do I still retain the license as Windows 10 Pro OEM or does it now become a retail Pro license?

If it still remains as OEM License, is there a difference in the fee structure for upgrading OEM Home to Pro & Retail Home to Pro?

As I understand a retail license offers flexibility to move to another computer but OEM does not. OEM is tied to the first motherboard on which it's activated.

Windows 10 Home (OEM) to Windows 10 Pro (Retail) license

Hello, first of all i'm sorry if my english is a bit broken.

i have questions regarding those that i mentioned on the title above, not the steps of the installation but the license.

i have a laptop running Windows 10 Home right now (lets say it is machine "A"), and planning to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro using retail product key. On the other hand i have a plan to get a new machine next year (machine "B").

1. What will happen with "A" Win 10 Home OEM license if i upgrade it to Win 10 Pro Retail version? does the OEM license just get straight away overwritten or deleted?

2. I read an article that Retail version of windows can be moved to another machine as long as it is not installed or removed from previous machine. Can i install the Windows 10 Pro version on "B" that previously installed on "A", after deleting it from
"A"?

3. Can i install the Windows 10 Home version back on "A" and get activated using default OEM license?
