Windows 10: Question about Taskbar expansion and minimization customization

I noticed earlier that Microsoft Security Essentials in my taskbar in the lower right was missing. So I messed around in it and now can't get it back to where the icons were kept in an expansion area. I'm not really sure how to describe this except to say that after messing around with taskbar options, they are now show across that area of the toolbar intead of an arrow pointing "up" to expand into a small inset window with the iconsoes anyone know how to get back to that setting and how I can customize to show MSE in that old inset window? I'm not sure why it disappeared to begin with.

You can customize your taskbar to pin your favorite apps to it, move it to where you want to display on your screen, and specify how taskbar buttons group together when you have more than one window open. To address your question, we suggest
that you follow these steps on how to move your taskbar to a different location on the screen:

• Open Settings and choose Personalization.
• Select Taskbar.
• Under Taskbar location on the screen, click the drop-down menu and select
  Bottom.

How do I customize the taskbar in Winddows 10

In reply to Nyima Yonten on May 16, 2016: Step 1: Try customizing which icons which will be displayed on the task bar and check if it helps.

I would like to input to Nyima on this Step one etc. I did try your Step 1 and the only icons that are listed available to turn on or off are the taskbar icons to the right side of the taskbar and NOT the left side of the taskbar.

It is a shame that Microsoft did not create a built in help in Windows 10 in-place-upgrade instead of all of us trying to find solutions and fix problems searching here at MS Community, it's like trying to find a "needle in a haystack".

So my question is why do my programs pinned to the taskbar (on the left lower screen) fail to open after I awake my PC from sleep? My graphics program will not open, Cortana will not work and Search will not work, again as I said
after I have placed my PC in sleep mode and after several or more hours come back awake my PC then there are these problems. Please find a good answer for me please
