Question about user putting shortcut folder to users/public

If a user on a PC (with limited access, so not an admin) creates a shortcut to a folder to its own files and then puts that folder in a users/public folder, will everyone else have access to the files in this folder?

  2. c:\users\public\public documents\xxxxx

    robocopy "c:\users\public\public documents\foldername"

    robocopy "c:\users\public\documents\foldername"

In your report you left out some essential details, e.g.

    • Does the folder c:\users\public\public documents exist?
    • Is it a physical folder or a symbolic link?
    • What is the error message generated by robocopy?

Question about user putting shortcut folder to users/public

How do I combine multiple users into a single user folder to eliminate duplication of files?

    Hi Howard,

If you wan all users to be able to access the same group of files, put them in the Public Documents Folder and then put a shortcut to that folder on each Users Desktop

That folder is the ideal place as all users will have permission to access that folder

It is located here - C:\Users\Public\Public Documents
