Windows 10: Question: Am I still limited to 15 letters, numbers and hyphens when renaming a PC on...

Since I would have gotten Amazon Prime for at least a year and the PC I got this past 4/1/2022 for $319.99 new and not $369.99 if I had just been more patient about the problems I was having on Windows 10, mainly because of the hard disk drive on my old Dell Insprion 7558, for $399.99 on clearance on dell.com on March 17th, 2016. If I can't exceed 15 letters, numbers & hyphens, I'll rename my PC 319-99PRIME2022 today or tomorrow and keep it until $319.99 on July 13th, 2022 reaches $500 or more on any given day into the future, as that is how much Amazon gift code my father gave me for Chri

HI thanks for this suggestion. Sadly, I found that one a few months ago. Tried it at the time and it didn't work either

To answer your other question about access to my son's PC:

• For the test you suggested above (the 15 minutes etc.) I was away from the PC and he was using it. So it's possible he's somehow resetting the limits, BUT ..
• A few days ago I sat at his PC and did the following test:
  • Logged into his account - checked and no limits
  • Switched to my account, set the limits there
  • Switched to his account - checked and limits working
  • Switched to my account, and after about 10-15 minutes the limits had reset
  • Switched to his account - no limits
  • The whole time I was at the PC and he was nearby but not at the PC so couldn't have adjusted the limits

 

Can't rename folder.

It is possible that the difficulty renaming your folder is due to access/account limitation or a recent change was made on your computer. For better assistance, please answer the following questions:

• Are you getting an error message when trying to rename the folder?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried?
• Can you send us a screenshot of the "Public" folders?

Dialing phone Numbers that contain Letters

Do you mean actually storing numbers as

1-800-697-49927 as the alpha-string 1-800-MYP-IZZAS ?

Threre's no point, is there?

the basic minimum for a sim-card entry would be narrative/number

eg New York Port Authority

in the SIM card you might store it as
Port Auth. NY 2124357000
but in the pocket PC contact list you could store the whole:

Port Authority of NY & NJ

225 Park Avenue South

New York, NY 10003

+1-212-435-7000

( I believe hyphens will act as 'padding' characters. I have shown 'international format. My UK number would be +44-29-2032-1654 (fictional, of course) )

Then, when searching, you either go into contacts and press/hold the down-D key to skip a letter at a time, or type in the first few letters of the contact and the contact list will show you a range of possible contacts.
OR you could voice-tag your main contacts and voice-dial them?

In short, including alphas in the phone-number field will NOT be 'parsed' as real numbers. do not try ;^)
