  1. Question concerning System Reserved Files partition.

I installed Windows 10 on a new PC. In the installer dialog all disks were blank. I did choose drive "4", an NVME drive, for the system. Windows informed me that it will install some files in a hidden partition and ok, I thought it will put the "System reserved files" on the NVME, instead it put them on a partition on drive "0".

    This is how it looks.

My question is, is this partition (System reserved files) relevant in any way besides including the word System. The boot process is done via UEFI, so my expectation would be that the UEFI bios directly interacts with drive "4"? Another question would be, why did Windows do it.

This all is relevant to me, as for the backup of the system I now have to worry and take care of two drives (0,4) instead of one (4), if this "System partition" is important for the startup of the system.

Isn't that what the system reserved partition is ? Or is it just a backup incase the windows boot files get corrupt?

Question concerning System Reserved Files partition.

Recovery Partition vs System Reserved Partition

Thanks for all the info guys.

Both original & target SSD's are listed as MBR as opposed to UEFI. I may have created a partition unknowingly in getting the original/new unformatted drive recognized, but I don't recall taking any steps that Windows did not step me through.

Not that an upgrade to WIN 10 Pro is contemplated, but I suspect that having no System Reserved partition will not allow that to happen, after seeing how the original WIN 10 upgrade created a problem for some WIN 7 users that had a smaller 100mb vs 500mb System Reserved partition.
