Windows 10: Question: Do I need a 256 GB SSD PC or larger to transfer just over 200 GB of iCloud Photos...

If not, I'll do it in maybe 60 days to go back down to 50 GB iCloud+ until I do need a 256 GB SSD Windows laptop, maybe in four years.

I want to clone or make a duplicate copy of everything on the 256GB SSD to the new 2TB SSD including the Windows OS.

Can anyone provide a much-needed step-by-step process (No 3rd party additional Software to Purchase) or a video that show a step by step on how to complete this full 256 GB SSD Transfer to 2TB SSD.

Just purchased:

Western Digital 2TB WD Blue SN570 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280, Up to 3,500 MB/s - WDS200T3B0C

Plus a

M.2 NVMe Enclosure to install the 2TB drive and clone/duplicate/copy OS & Files to it.

I may need a new 256 GB SSD Wi-Fi 7, also known as 802.11be, Windows 11 laptop for Dec. 25, 2025 or within 36 months of that Christmas, preferably in S mode. Reason being, moving my iCloud Photo Library to Norton Cloud, Google Drive, OneDrive, MobiDrive, mail.com Cloud, Box Drive Personal Pro, or Amazon Photos as I eagerly await to be able to order more than 200 GB of iCloud storage for $2.99 a month with no 6% 18901 sales tax. Maybe Apple will start offering a 500 GB plan for $4.99 each month or something like that to attract more customers.

 

Replacing 256 GB SSD C drive with larger 500 GB using macrium clone

I upgraded the M.2 SSD in my Dell laptop. I did a full disc image (all partitions) to a USB connected drive (that I use for Macrium disc image backups). I removed the old (256 GB SSD) and installed the new 512GB SSD. I booted the PC with the Macrium bootable rescue disc (actually a bootable USB flash drive) and "restored" the disc image to the new SSD. I might have been able to use clone but I've had 50/50 success with clone and I've had 100% success with the disc image so I used that.

After the restore and the PC was booted with the new SSD, I used Mini Tool Partition Wizard (free version) to recover the full disc size (the disc image or clone only recovers what the size of the original disc "C" partition size).
