    Question for a friend... Whenever they try to open up certain games on their device it comes up with a error saying "Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 X64 Minimum Runtime"

    Hello Dalton, thank you for you inquiry. My name is Shantal I'm an independent advisor, I am happy to help.

    I'm sorry to hear that your friend is having to deal with this issue, lets work together to get a resolution.

    The "Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 X64 Minimum Runtime" error typically indicates that the required Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package is either missing or corrupted, which is essential for running certain games and applications. Since you mentioned that uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 X64 Redistributable didn't resolve the issue, here are some additional steps you can try to fix the problem:

    Repair Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable:

    Instead of uninstalling, try repairing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 X64 Redistributable installation. Follow these steps:

    a. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

    b. Type "appwiz.cpl" without quotes and press Enter. This will open the "Programs and Features" window.

    c. Look for "Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 Redistributable (x64)" in the list of installed programs.

    d. Click on it to select it, then click on the "Change" or "Modify" button at the top.

    e. Choose the "Repair" option when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair process.

    Install All Windows Updates:

    Ensure that the operating system is up to date by installing all available Windows updates. Sometimes, missing updates can cause compatibility issues with certain applications.

    a. Press the Windows key + I to open Windows Settings.

    b. Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.

    c. Click on "Check for updates" and install any pending updates.

    Install Visual C++ Redistributables Manually:

    If repairing the existing Visual C++ Redistributable didn't work, try manually installing the Visual C++ Redistributables that the game requires. You can download them from the official Microsoft website. Search for "Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio" to find the appropriate packages.

    Verify Game Files in Steam:

    If the issue occurred while trying to run a game on Steam, it's possible that the game files got corrupted during download or installation. Steam has a built-in feature to verify the integrity of game files. Here's how to do it:

    a. Open Steam and go to your Library.

    b. Right-click on the game that is causing the error and select "Properties."

    c. In the Properties window, go to the "Local Files" tab.

    d. Click on "Verify Integrity of Game Files" and wait for the process to complete.

    Check for Game-specific Patches or Updates:

    Sometimes, game developers release patches or updates that address compatibility issues and bugs. Check the game's official website or Steam store page for any available updates or patches, and make sure you have the latest version of the game installed.

    Contact Game Support:

    If none of the above solutions work, consider reaching out to the game's support team or forums. They may have encountered similar issues and can provide more specific troubleshooting steps or solutions.

    It's essential to follow these steps carefully and back up important data before making any significant changes to the system. Additionally, if your friend is not comfortable performing these troubleshooting steps, it might be best to seek assistance from a knowledgeable friend or a professional technician.

    I hope this information is of use.

    Kind regards,

    Shantal.
