Windows 10: Question. How to completely disable WD Smart screen

Before version 1809, I deactivated Smart screen for Apps and files and Microsoft Store. I had Smart screen On only for Edge. By setting up Smart screen this way, I rarely saw smartscreen.exe running in Task manager for more than a few seconds. Normally, when I saw it running it would be when I started the computer and after a few seconds, smartscreen.exe would close itself.

After updating to version 1809, I started noticing that now smartscreen.exe is running all the time.Trying to get rid of it, I now also disabled protection for Edge and expected that after doing so and rebooting, it would not run anymore but it is still running in Task manager.

I dont want smartscreen.exe running. Does anyone know how to solve this without doing anything drastic, or having to go through hoops to achieve what I want. Thanks.

I can't get a video to stream to my lg smart tv in full screen , it's playing full screen on the pc no problem

To assist you better, I like to know; how exactly you are trying to stream video from your PC to LG Smart TV?

As an initial step, I suggest you to try updating the display adapter on your system.

Follow the below steps:

• Click on the Start button, and type Device Manager on the search bar.
• Open Device Manager, expand Display Adapters.
• Find and double-click Display Adapters from the left panel to update.
• Right-click the device, and click Update.

As you are able to play the video full screen in your PC, then it might be an issue related to LG Smart TV. I suggest you to check for the LG Smart TV manual and check what all settings need to done to play video in full screen.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

• On the Search bar, type Windows Defender Security Center.
• Open Windows Defender Security Center settings and go to
  App & browser control.
• From there, you will see the options available for Windows Defender SmartScreen.
