  1. Question: Is Win 10 Optimized for Devices With 1GB RAM?

I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro with 1gb pf RAM and it seems generally slower with Win 10 than Win 8.1. I've compared fresh installs of both OSes and Win 10 is noticeably slower to me. What have you guys / gals found? I'm considering putting this tablet back on 8.1 and not upgrading to 10.

    :)

Add more memory and Win 10 will run better. From what I could find on the Dell site, the max is 4GB.

  5. The tablet is not upgradeable. It ships with 1gb and upgrading is not an option, and you didn't answer the question I originally posted.

I have windows 10 x86 on my venue pro - but it has 2GB ram..
x64 windows requires 4GB Ram - so you should have x86 Windows 10 installed

  7. My apologies, I should have been specific. I do have Win 10 x86 installed, but compared to Win 8.1 x86 it is much slower.

    @ senturion1186
Time to upgrade, get a new tablet.
1GB of RAM is worth nothing in 2015
So lets not even talk about 2016
Please read the requirements of Windows 10 before you install it.
If you are not satisfied with Windows 10 running on only 1GB of Memory, please go back to your previous OS.
You are wasting peoples time and effort on this site.

I've got a HP Stream 8 with 1gb ram running Windows 10 home and it seems to be running okay, have you done all the updates. If anything I find Windows 10 a little faster than 8.1, but you do need all the latest updates.

  10. swagger, before responding without sounding ignorant, I decided to do a 5 second web search. See the image below:

Question: Is Win 10 Optimized for Devices With 1GB RAM? [IMG]

As you'll see, Win 10 32 bit only requires 1gb, which I have. im not expecting this to perform like my Intel i7, dual SSD, SLI gaming system. But when I compare the same system with Win 8.1 vs Win 10, both 32 bit, Win 8.1 is the faster for me. By the way, Win 10 will be out at this rev level for some time supporting 1gb of RAM, so I am talking about current systems for the next few years. I apologize you feel you wasted your time reading this and replying but that is only your fault for doing so and feeling your time was wasted.

Now, back to intelligent responses, @BillyBob, I unfortunately am up to date on updates to Win 10. This tablet isn't unusable, but it is visibly slower. But thank you for the suggestion.

    No.

1 GB RAM is the minimum supported RAM for a 32 bit version of Windows 10, as with Windows 8. That means it is adequate to install and run Windows 10 with acceptable performance. But to achieve optimum performance you will need more. No operating system is optimized for the minimum supported RAM.

If Windows 10 has inferior performance than Windows 8 it may be because you do not have the required drivers installed. The Windows 10 install media does not have drivers for all devices on all computers.

I've got an old Atom based PC with 2gb ram and it seems to be running slower on 10 than 8.1, I think it must be a driver thing because other PCs that I have are running faster.

Question: Is Win 10 Optimized for Devices With 1GB RAM?

Most likely it's going to be a driver issue. 1GB of RAM is the minimum and will provide the minimal experience, but that requirement was the same for Windows 8. Usually 10 has not proven slower than 8.

Look for a video card driver, chipset driver or a hard drive controller. These things can make a big difference.

Trucker answered your question. Microsoft recommends at least 4 GB RAM for Windows 10. From what I could see with his answer, he looked your tablet up and it should take 4 GB Maiximum.

When people try to help you, you don't slap the around by saying, "You didn't answer the question I posted."

might as well downgrade to Windows 8.1. Ultimately, the only problem with Windows 8.1 is the tablet-optimized user interface, which isn't a problem for the tablet. So upgrading is not necessary for .
