Discus and support Question: Is Win 10 Optimized for Devices With 1GB RAM? in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; I've been thinking about testing that out on an old retired P4 3.0 Ghz box with XP x86 and 4 GB ram in my storage building out back just to see how it... It should run fine; I have Windows 10 RTM and Windows Insider on a laptop with only 4 GB RAM and it does pretty good. I don't notice it being very much slower than this desktop with 8 GB RAM.

  2. Probably better than XP x86 which almost drove me to Linux Ubuntu ☻

I have an old Dell 3.0 Core Duo 4 GB off lease box here in another bedroom I put together for a family member with a new 24" screen updated from win 7 x64 pro to Win 10 RTM the thing is remarkably faster on Win 10 .

This dual boot 8 GB 4 core Phen. II x 4 box daily driver is also noticeably faster on some things than it was on 7 x64.
I might put a new SSD in a dual boot configuration in here like it is now on metal and use the the TB hdd for a storage drive just to see what shakes out although it's decently fast as it is .

The i7 HP Elitebook runs well on RTM also it took to the upgrade like a duck to water . The i7 workstation with the nVidia gaming dGPU is still on 7 x64 for now we'll see what shakes out for that later on .

DX 12 games will be coming out and SWBF and some others might be interesting with DX 12 on the i7 W.S. with the OC water cooled nVidia dGPU so I'm thinking about getting another hdd and dual booting that one for gaming and drive sims in W10 and keeping the $$$ stuff on Win 7 x64 for now .

Back to the OP, IMO there is no reason his tard pad should be any slower on win 10 than win 8.1 at 1Gb vs
1Gb outside of driver or configuration issues.

  3. Well Dell shipped me a thumbdrive with their Windows 8.1 32-bit image on it. I reflashed it to my tablet and the difference from Win 10 32 bit to Win 8.1 32 bit is night and day on 1 GB of RAM. It works soooo much faster with Win 8.1. I love Win 10 on my 4 GB tablet, 8 GB laptop, and 16 GB desktop at home, but on this tablet it is borderline unusable with 10. I hope this helps anybody else considering upgrading a tablet device from Win 8.1 to Win 10 - either don't or do it, but keep the recovery partition so you can go back when you find it is too slow to deal with.

  4. Question: Is Win 10 Optimized for Devices With 1GB RAM?

I thought the same thing you are saying, but when I reinstalled Win 10 from scratch and am comparing to how it is now with Win 8.1 the difference is beyond noticeable in performance. I'm sticking with 8.1 for sheer performance.

  5. Strange how that model doesn't like 10, sounds like a driver issue

Performance for me is almost identical between 8.1 & 10 on a 1GB tablet

  6. Which tablet do you have? I'm curious what the hardware difference might be.

Question: Is Win 10 Optimized for Devices With 1GB RAM?

I have the Venue 8 Pro 2GB Ram and 32GB drive
I prefer 10 over 8.1 on the tablet..
But have not yet switched over to 10 on other PC's..

It is a choice we all make..
    some like it, some don't..

  9. Interesting enough, your tablet is the same processor, RAM, and storage as mine, except your Atom is clocked at 1.83ghz where my Atom Z3735G is clocked at 1.33ghz.

And now we probably know why yours doesn't work well with Windows 10 and Paul's does. *Sad for your user experience!
