Windows 10: Question on increasing internal LAN speed for desktop streaming

Hi guys, looking for some advice. I'm a bit of a novis when it comes to networking.

My two kids have Chromebooks, there is some games they want to play online with their friends from school, one of them for example is Roblox. Obviously the Chromebooks are not suitable as they are windows applications. I can't afford to buy them both gaming spec laptops and I don have room in my house for two desktop computers, so I came up with an idea! I have quite a few computer spares so I decided to build a couple gaming servers.

I have built two rigs into Micro ATX cases and hidden them away in the living room, they are both identical to each other in terms of hardware. The specs of both rigs are:

AMD Ryzen 5 3400G CPU
8GB DDR4 Memory
Gigabyte B450M DS3H Motherboard
Onboard Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics
500w Standard PSU
Windows 10 Pro x64

So the games are installed, played locally on the machines the performance is spot on. What I'm trying to do now is play the games remotely. At the moment I'm using Chrome Remote Desktop for two reasons. Because it streams the desktop in video format rather than rendering bitmap files like some other remote desktop applications do, and because it was the easiest option as the chromebooks already have it built it.

Now, the network speed seems to be an issue. Both rigs are connected via ethernet, using good quality cat5 patch leads, directly to the broadband router. I have confirmed Chrome Remote Desktop is routing the connection to the chromebooks directly via local LAN rather than using Google's Cloud Servers (simply unplugged the phone line to the router whilst in use, remote desktop continued) but the connection on both rigs seems to be restricted, I can't seem to get any higher than 14mb/s on anything local, but can get up to 54mb/s on anything out on the internet.

At the moment I have had to set the resolution to 800x600 on both rigs so they can play their games without any lag, which is working well, but the low resolution is not ideal. If I use a higher resolution the connection starts to become laggy.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Such as windows settings I could try tweak, alternative software I could use for either boosting network speed, or an alternative method of remote access etc.

Good LAN party games?

However, I found Swat4 to actually be a pretty fun LAN game, especially at smaller LAN parties.
