Windows 10: Questions about controller gaming

So I just got this new Alienware pc and monitor. At first I would Bluetooth my controller so I can play games. Thing is, it worked for Rocket league but not Fortnite. So I used a trash usb. That worked for a while until it didn’t anymore. & ss of right now, I’m able to Bluetooth that same controller but not play Fortnite orrrr Rocket league. I don’t know if it’s because the trash cable that maybe charges the controller improperly/connects it improperly? Or something like that. But either way there may be something deeper wrong as well. Because from what I saw, I should just be able to conn

Game controller ID settings

Hi Joe,

Thank you for the update. I understand your concern.

I would suggest you to look for the Devices settings in Control Panel and check if the game controllers are listed. If so, refer to the following steps to alter the settings and check if these are helpful in resolving your issue.

a. Right click on one of your game controllers and click Game Controller Settings. Note where in the list it is. If it is not at the top proceed to the next step.

b. Right click and remove all your other controllers (not the 360/gamepad) and let them reinstall automatically.

c. Once complete right click and check the list again and see if the 360 controller/gamepad is at the top. If so, give the game another try and see if it detects your controller.

If the issue still persists, restart your console and then try to reconnect your controller.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to download Sidewinder Game Controller Software 4.0

• Disconnect the game controller from your computer's universal serial bus (USB) port.
• Insert the Microsoft Sidewinder compact disc into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Hold down the SHIFT key to prevent installation from automatically starting.
• On your desktop, double-click My Computer, and then browse to the following file:
  CD-ROM drive:\Setup\Setup.exe
  
• Double-click Setup.exe to start the installation process.
• Restart your computer when prompted.
• Plug the SideWinder game controller into your computer's USB port, and then allow Microsoft Windows to detect and install it.
  
  Install the software update if the controller is the Sidewinder Game Controller Software 4.0
• Restart your computer.

Gaming Controls

• What is the make and model number of your laptop?
  
• In which game do you face the issue?
  
• Have you downloaded the game from Microsoft Store?
  
• Did you make any changes in controls within game settings?
  

Please provide more information regarding the issue

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

Method 1: Run keyboard troubleshooter

1. Search Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box
   
2. Click Troubleshoot, scroll down and click Keyboard
   
3. Run the troubleshooter and follow on screen directions
   

Method 2: Reinstall driver

Please create a restore point before uninstalling and reinstalling drivers

Note: Restoring your PC won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

1. Search and open Device Manager in start menu
   
2. Expand Keyboards
   
3. Right click on keyboard driver and select Roll Back Driver if present
   
4. You could also click on Uninstall Device
   
5. Restart the computer for drivers to reinstall automatically
