Windows 10: Questions about dual monitor setup

hello, I'm new to windows and I just have a couple of questions. currently, I have my laptop and a monitor set up side by side with my laptop kinda being used as a second monitor and it seems to be working but there's just some stuff I'm unsure about


1 when I hide my taskbar, it hides on the monitor and not on the laptop, I want to have a taskbar only on my monitor screen.


2 whenever I change my display settings like hiding my taskbar, discord open and won't seem to close at all, I have to open discord and then close it, so really what pops up is just a screenshot from discord and I've closed the app and turned off my laptop many times, how can I stop this?


3 I intend on getting a second monitor soon to have two same-sized monitors and to hide my laptop under my desk. how can I set it up so that when my laptop closes, my monitor won't go black?


4 sometimes my background goes black and I have to reset it and apply it again, it's really annoying. and sometimes it will slowly fade away when I highlight something on my desktop, how can I stop this?


5 how can I hide certain apps from my desktop? there are some apps that I don't want on my desktop and I cant find anything in settings to remove the icons.


6 another thing, I want to upgrade my RAM and storage, will I need to do anything in settings or task manager or any of these apps to make it work?

• Have you tried running the hardware troubleshooter?
• Have you tried running the System File Checker tool?

Double Monitor Setup is not connecting

Hi Yuri,

To setup dual monitors, I suggest you to press Windows + P keys
and select Extend or the required option and check for status. If you are still unable to setup dual monitor, suggest you to update the Display Adapter driver by following the steps provided below and check for status.

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapters.
• Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.
• Follow the on-screen prompts to update the driver.

Dual monitor, Dual mouse??

• How have you setup dual monitors?
• Are you referring to use 2 different mouse/keyboard with the dual monitor setup?

If yes, the mouse or keyboard may function same as one another. Since, it has to be connected to single PC/tower.

However, setting up 2 different mouse/keyboard with the Dual- monitor setup, it may not function separately for each monitor.
