Windows 10: Questions about two laptops using one Microsoft account...

When we purchased a computer for my son, it asked for us to sign into a Microsoft account. I didn't think he needed one, so I signed into mine. We were surprised when it had the same picture on his desktop that I had on mine, but figured it was just a sync feature since he was signed into my account. Now, a few years later, I had to buy a new laptop after my old one crashed. When I was setting it up, it asked for my Microsoft login. It then asked if I wanted to restore apps and files from my laptop. I said yes, but soon realized it was backing up my son's laptop, not my old laptop. But it does

Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are

• Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
• No Internet connection during the install
• static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)

 

Change Microsoft Account Details in Administrator Account

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.

Notice that before doing this you need to remove the new additional MS account on the PC, the one you created with her credentials. Windows allows only one user account for each email address, if the new account exists you cannot switch the original administrator account to an MS account using the same email address. Unable to remove my microsoft account from a linked pc

• Have you tried deleting your Microsoft account directly from the old laptop?
• How did you go about removing the account from the old laptop?
