I updated Windows 11 Pro 3 weeks ago and I can no longer arrange the order of my Quick Access folders. I called Windows tech support today, got a guy in Nigeria who read to me that 'Quick Access is now called Home' and that it doesn't function the same way!?!?. He would not admit that this new update REMOVED the ability to arrange the Quick Access shortcuts - which my work heavily relies on. I asked him how he would feel if his browser stopped allowing him to rearrange the order of his browser bookmarks, and he finally understood the level of functionality that has been lost with this rec

Windows 10 - How to Rename Quick Access items

When I pin folder locations to the Quick Access list in Windows 10, I am seeking the option to be able to rename them.

I used to do this in Windows 8 Favorites list. But when I try to do this in Windows 10, I am forced to actually change the name of the actual folder, which I do not want to do.

I am seeking to see if it possible to rename the names on Pinned Quick Access list, like I have done previously with Windows 8 favorties?

    Thanks for any comments.

Windows 10: Rename pinned items in Windows Explorer's Quick Access

Sort of a kludge, but it works:

    1. Add the desired directory to a Library
    2. Rename the library as you wish
    3. Pin the Library to Quick Access

Update: I used the solution above for a while, then I found it cumbersome to maintain and now I have done this:

    1. Created a "Favorites" folder anywhere in my hard disk and pinned it to Quick Access (you can even change its icon to make it look like a star)
    2. Put inside it all the shortcut I want to access rapidly

It kinda restores the Favorites feature but with the hassle of an additional step.

  4. Quick Access - Windows 11 Pro - No longer works AND renamed 'HOME' - What's Favorites?

    Quick Access

    The reply isn't helpful unfortunately.

The question/posting wasn't about deleting files or permanently deleting files.

But about the display of recent files in Quick Access view, which is shown when opening File Explorer => Windows 10.

Quick Access shows a list of (supposedly) recent files that have been opened. It doesn't automatically update when other files are opened.

My question was about listings in Quick Access that showed files as having been moved or renamed when in fact they had been deleted (I would suggest the Recycle Bin).

So to my partner the Quick Access listing was stating I had (attempted to) move/rename the files (and therefore hide them from her) whereas I had actually deleted them.

I would appreciate someone verifying this is plausible with the way file listings are listed in Windows 10/Quick Access.
