Quick Scan Due prompt in System Tray after every Reboot

This just recently began. I have attempted to stop the Quick Scan Due issue utilizing methods posted, yet nothing has worked. It doesn't take long, 2 minutes, however, the System Tray Icon, upon every reboot, shows a prompt that a Quick Scan is due, and once scanned, it will again reappear in the System Tray upon next reboot that a Quick Scan is due. Please note that utilizing Task Manager to either disable or delete the Windows Defender Scheduled Scan does not work, as, upon reboot, everything automatically returns to enable or, if deleted, the respective Windows Defender Scheduled Scan entry

    :)

  2. Quick Access not working in Windows 10

    Hi Soumyadeep,

You might be experiencing the issue with Quick Access due to corruption among data which your system stores for frequent folders record. In this case, we suggest resetting the data to resolve the issue. You may refer to the steps below:

    • Right-click on the Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type the following command and press Enter: del /F /Q %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
    • Close Command Prompt and reboot your system.

Let us know how it turns out.

Can You Run Defender Quick Scans Automatically?

All my PCs routinely show a yellow marker on the Defender tray icon nagging me that a Quick Scan is due. Is there a way of configuring Defender to run these Quick Scans automatically when due?

  4. Quick Scan Due prompt in System Tray after every Reboot

Windows 10 -10240 Right click the "Quick access" and auto shutdonw File Explorer

    Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I apologies for delay in response. I will certainly help you with this.

I suggest you to run Windows defender and check for any virus or malware infection. Usually, Windows Defender requires first time scan, when you update it at first time. I think you Shut down your computer or put it in Sleep mode before completing the scan.

Open it by typing Windows Defender in the search box. Then, from the Home page, run the quick scan (or full scan if you have time and you feel that you system driver(s) are infected).

Although you can close the window while it scans your computer, do not close it to see scan result. If everything is well done, close it and it will not ask you for scanning if not required for some reason. It will prompt if something is not going well.

This issue may occur due to some system file corruption.
I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow the below given steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.
    • In Command prompt type sfc/scannow and press enter.
    • Restart the computer.
If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:

    • Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
    • In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
    • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
    • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
      • Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.
Please post back with the results , we will be glad to assist you further.

    Thank you.
