Windows 10: Quickest way for Windows to check existing files when pasting?

I'm trying to do manual backups from an internal to an external drive automatic backups aren't working for me and I need to find the most efficient way to ensure Windows checks existing files and copies only new or amended files an incremental backup, I think. Are there any options other than a simple select, copy and paste?

• paste your text
  
• Plugins/ Spell Checker/ Check text with suggestions: it will show red underlines for bad words
