Windows 10: QuickPar

It has been years since I had to using QuickPar. I know it repairs files and makes them so I can see the download of a video or even software.

On my download I had 12 rar files which I extracted in the same folder. I know this is when to use QuickPar but what do I do NOW.

Newsgroups Windows 7 RTM download.

Eager to have a look at what all the fuss over Windows 7 is about, I have downloaded a leeked RTM version of Windows 7 via Newsgroups. However, one of the .RAR files was faulty in that because it was split/broke, I ended up not getting the whole 52MB chunk of the rar sequence (it was part04.rar).

However, the Quickpar tool managed to fix it with the 'Scratching' process.

Now normally when I have to do this, there is only one block missing. But in this instance there was a whole .rar file missing. But nonetheless, Quickpar 'repaired' the .rar sequence and I now have an image file of Windows 7.

What I want to know before installing this is whether or not I will have a fully complete and functioning copy of Windows 7 or whether Quickpar has merely pathced over a great big gaping hole (i.e. loss of important data) in order to allow the .rar files to extract its image?

need suggestion: NAS with BitTorrent

Maybe that is what you want. I want Quickpar monitoring downloads and fixing any crazy stuff that comes in as well as a strong anti-virus just in case I do something stupid. At the same time WinRAR setup to auto decompress incoming downloads.

 

Handy OS X Tools and Apps

I would add that if you use newsgroups, then Unison (little bit of money) and MacPar Deluxe are fantastic tools. MacPar will fix archives using parity files, then extract them once done - imho better than quickpar for windows - but it does nag you every now and then for an optional donation.
