    qwertyuiop[]\ keyboard row intermittent typing.


    Dell Inspiron 5406 2-in-1 laptop. Windows 10Intermittent typing problems. Affects keys in the qwerty row. Sometimes letter will not display when key pressed. Sometimes multiples of same letter will display with single key press. Using shift key will sometimes get letter to work, then it will work ok without shift key. Sometimes pressing key hard will work. As I'm typing this, it's working fine. I've tried a lot of things I've found in forums here and on the Dell Community forum. Nothing has worked.I bought a new SSD so that I could eliminate any software problems. I've done a clean install of

    When typing with the top row keys (qwertyuiop) and sometimes the right hand side shift key, it will just add a random dash/minus sign.

    Hello,

    I wanted some guidance on the driver for a laptop keyboard.

    On occassion, when typing with the top row keys (qwertyuiop) and sometimes the right hand side shift key, it will just add a random dash/minus sign.

    I have tried to reset the drivers, checked for the newest -update but there is nothing I can do to stop it from randomly putting a dash.

    Is there anything that you could assist with?

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    To better understand your query, please reply:

    1. What do you mean by "top row not working" not working? Are you referring to keyboard top row keys?

    I would suggest you to go to the safe mode and see if the problem persists.

    To go to Safe mode follow the steps below:

    • Click on Windows key, and in the Power Options click on Restart while pressing the shift key.

    • A blue screen will appear with a few options.

      Click on Troubleshoot > Advanced Settings > Startup Settings > Restart.

    • Your system will automatically restart, press 4 or F4 key to go to the Safe Mode.

    qwertyuiop[]\ keyboard row intermittent typing.

    Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Wireless Desktop intermittently unresponsive

    I am on my 3rd Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Wireless Desktop on 2 different computers (ASrock MB custom built).
    All three have become intermittently unresponsive as follows:

    • Typing along and it skips strokes leaving missing characters.
    • Hitting the same key several times in a row with no response for several seconds and then typing the same character repeatedly.
    • No response even after several seconds or even a minute. Only fix is to unplug and reinsert the USB receiver. Then it is good to go for a while.

    The steps I have taken to resolve are as follows:

    • Using Window 10 64 bit with all updates applied.
    • Installed the latest version of the keyboard software from the Microsoft site
    • Located the receiver less than 24" away from the keyboard using a USB extension cable

    I love this keyboard and mouse so this problem is very troubling. Has anyone had this problem and resolved it successfully.
