Windows 10: Radeon HD 6550

Hi,

I have a notebook from HP dv603290br with Radeon HD 6550D but could not get the video driver to work properly.Already I researched in many forums and have not found the solution. Does anyone know what to do?

window 10 and AMD video drivers

After installing win 10 I get this message ( No AMD driver installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware. ). HP Pavilion dv7 notebook, display adapters- AMD M880G with ATI Mobility
Radeon HD 4250 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6550 drivers are up to date. checking AMD and HP forums I'm not the only person having this problem. with 10 installed system runs on windows basic video driver. which means all games ie; world of warcraft, Diablo
, Starcraft ,etc run with a 2fps where it should be running 80 to 100 fps. i hope Microsoft over looked this by mistake or are they actually using everyone as beta testers. so much for my rant, if anyone has a fix or work around for this problem let me know

Your suggestion worked. My video card was at end of life and the AMD site provided a last update for that HD 6550 video card. I will invest in a new card at this time

 

HP laptops nearly always use specialized graphics chipsets that require drivers from HP to work properly.

The problem is that your DV6 is not compatible with Win10 -- according to HP. They provide no Win10 drivers for it, and without those, you are never going to get full operations on that model.

You could try running HP Support Assistant to see if it can find anything, but without HP drivers, it's probably not going to work.

I have an HP DV6 also, and have exhausted all the available options in Win10 -- and reverted it to Win7, where everything works!

To me, an older OS on a laptop where everything works is vastly better than a new OS on a laptop where some things do not.
