  1. Raid drive failed need to reinstall Win 10 upgrade

Hopefully someone can guide me in the right way.

I just had my old computer flake out on me. It was set up with three 120G SSDs in a raid format for performance. Yesterday one of the drives just stopped working and my system is down. With faster SSDs I dont really need raid. And took the opportunity to purchase a new video card and some more RAM as well. My question comes into play when I'm reinstalling my OEM that I purchased from a computer store a few years ago disc copy of Win 7 home, will there be any problems with the win 10 upgrade due to I had to change hard drives?

    Thank you for your response.

    :)

  2. Reinstall win 10 and lose separate data raid array

    Hi all,

Win 10 was running fine off the C: drive, a 500gb single drive, and had a 5 drive raid 5 array full of (not too important) data.

Win 10 was then reinstalled (clean partition and from dvd unlike previous upgrade from win 7) and now the raid array is borked (to windows only, still fine in BIOS).

Looking in disk management we see disk 0 thinks it is D: Basic disk, 7.5TB RAW, healthy primary, but if i right click and properties it also thinks it is a 2TB western digital drive (which is what disk 1/2/3/4 show)

Entering disk manager i get a pop up which asks me to initialise disk 1/2/3/4 which i decline every time. In windows explorer it shows as zero size and asks for format if clicked on.

So what changed between the old win 7 upgraded to 10 and the new win 10? And what can i do to fix it (avoiding rebuilding it and re-ripping all my AV)?

I suspect a raid driver but obviously device manager shows everything ok (but individuak disks not a raid array), and the manufacturers site has no win 10 drivers.

I suspect all the data is still there, what do people suggest i try? Will a win 8.1 driver work, is it safe to test that?

Hardware of interest: Gigabyte ga-f2a85x-d3h MB, a10-6800k apu, boot drive samsung hd502hj connected to chipset port, raid array 5 western digital red 2TB conected to chipset ports, optical connected to one of additional asmedia ports.

Hard Drive Fail after Win 10 upgrade

After upgrading to Win 10 through the free option, my hard drive failed. From what I read on this forum, I can obtain a new ISO copy to re-install on my new HD. The problem though is that my backup is on a Seagate Free Agent Drive that is not compatible
with Win 10. My problem is how do I recover my data on the Free Agent. Seagate does not have a driver or updated software to work with Win 10. My computer had Vista on it which was upgrade to Win 7 Home via a purchased copy of an upgrade, From there I upgraded
to Win 10 via the free download. How should I proceed: re-install Win 10 and go from there or reinstall Vista then upgrade it to Win 7 and then recover data from Free Agent and then upgrade to Win 10? A dilemma for sure?? Any suggestions would be GREATLY
    appreciated!

    Thanks,

  4. Raid drive failed need to reinstall Win 10 upgrade

    Need specifics on RAID 10

step 1) purchase a raid card that does raid 10 and has 4x mini sas. you will want at least 1024 ram on that chip.
step 2) purchase 16 2 TB enterprise class constellation drives
step 3) purchase another whole rig to do the same thing
step 4) setup rsync to copy all of the changed data from server 1 to server 2
step 5) buy 2 800 watt BBU (1 for each)

    there.
