    Hello!

I am the owner of a computer with a Ryzen 7 1700x. Recently, after neglecting to for a year, I finally clocked up my Corsair Vengence LPX ram to 3200mhz, its rated speed. And soon after i experienced both instances of chrome i had open and discord Windows to go completely black and stop responding. I had to close them using using the “close program” option in the window is not responding box that popped up for the first chrome window and used task manager to close the other chrome window and discord. And then i later chrome randomly flashed completely grey while watching youtube and on another youtube tab that was paused, the video had turned green. I couldnt really find anything specific in the system information error reporting and running sfc didnt show any problems. Its also worth noting that i also had a drawing program open clip studio paint that wasnt connected to the internet.

My question is, can clocking ram up to its rated speed using the DOCP in the bios cause instability issues with programs in windows? Or does this sound more like an internet connection issue?

I wouldn’t think so since ya know... it’s the rated speed of the ram so it should be able to run like that. Or is it possible that it could be my system “adjusting” to the new ram speed?

Apologize for probably sounding incompetent. Ive had a fair amount of computer issues before and this kind of stuff really worries me. Also that this is more of a hardware issue than a windows issue, but its seemed to affect windows programs specifically.

    :)

Computer freezing randomly during games causing me to hard reset the computer.

I turned off XMP and it set the RAM to 2133mhz, it didn't crash for awhile that way, but again it doesn't always crash immediately so it's hard to tell if that was the issue. I noticed a performance hit at that clock speed to I changed it to 3000Mhz and
it crashed a few hours after using that setting (not sure if that's what caused it). When I set it to XMP it clocks my RAM at 3200Mhz which is what my RAM is rated for.

RAM not running at correct speed.

In your case both are correct. The BIOS is displaying the DDR4 speed (2133MHz) and Windows is displaying the actual clock speed of the RAM (1067MHz.) DDR4 speeds are listed as twice the clock rate because DDR transfers data twice in one clock cycle. So,
    1067*2 ~ 2133. Nothing is wrong here.

Alarms and Clock app is crashing

There was an update for the Alarms and Clock app today but unfortunately it has not fixed this problem. The app still crashes when the World Clock tab is selected.

The suggestions from Syed did not help.
