Windows 10: RAM not being detected by PC

Hi

Update one of the locking clips is missing ( can these be replaced ? ) so hopefully the stick will still stay in ok
i bought two identical PCs in 2013, I paid for 2x4GB ram for each and thought nothing more of it, as each PC reported 8 GB RAM, which was what I expected. I have just dismantled one of the PCs to sell the components and found it had
2x 8GB RAM When I checked the other PC, it had the same 2x8GB RAM....so I installed the working PC with all 4 sticks, making 32 GB RAM, but it now reports 16GB RAM total.....the BIOS reports 16GB RAM.....the motherboard
Apparently the Motherboard can accept up to 64 GB RAM, so shouldn’t be an issue, any help please ? P.S. both motherboards had new CMOS batteries fitted a few weeks ago, so that didn’t change anything

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

To better assist you, please answer the questions below.

• What is the full specifications of your computer?
• Which type of RAM are you trying to install?
• Have you checked if the total RAM is detected in the BIOS?
• Have you tried installing just the 8 Gb RAM and see if the system detects it?
  

We suggest that you contact the computer manufacturer for information on how to enter the BIOS and how to set the default settings. Also, you can ask them if there is an available update for the BIOS.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
