Windows 10: Ram not going upto 3200mhz and returned to single channel mode

Before resetting my laptop completely, my RAM returned to single-channel mode.I haven't played around with the RAM by opening up my laptop, fearing this expensive piece of hardware might break.But after resetting the RAM went back into single-channel mode as shown by CPU-z.Before resetting the RAM was also used to clock 3200mhz and was in dual channel modeas of CPU-z. I have no idea how it went to dual channel in the first place but now under load, it stays at around 2133Mhz. Also, I noticed my CPU doesn't clock as high now as it used to be 4-4.5GHz but it stays around 3.5GHz nowMy specs are

Single vs dual channel RAM in a laptop

The RAM can bottleneck the CPU when benchmark testing.
In real world testing you won't notice the difference.
You would need to push the computer to extremes.

Most end users do not overclock laptops.
So for the typical laptop you won't notice the difference again when using single as compared to dual channel.

When adding or replacing RAM these are important:
a) Use RAM that is displayed on the computer or motherboard manufacturers Qualified Vendor List (QVL)
b) Always purchase in pairs with matching SKU (so that there are no compatibility problems)
c) Consider RAM manufacturers offering lifetime warranty

When adding or replacing RAM consider the pricing for two 8GB versus one 16 GB.
If its a minor difference go with the two 8 GB.

One other factor to consider is having four DIMM with 2 RAM modules.
Typically adding only one RAM module converts dual channel into single channel.
The single and dual channel refer to the function of the motherboard.
In the owners manual it may indicate which DIMM to use when using one versus two RAM modules.

I was baffled why cpu z was show me 3200mhz

i am planning to but another stick of 8gb ram for dual channeling:

Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/S (PC4-19200) SR x8 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT8G4SFS824A

is it compatible with dual channeling or am i getting it wrong?

 

OCZ DDR2 800 - Dual Channel mode wrong?

The P5KC manual is quite unclear on this.

Page 2-14 says that for DDR2 module installation, Channel A is sockets DIMM_A1 and DIMM_A2 and Channel B is Sockets DIMM_B1 and DIMM_B2. This ties in with what you are saying.

However, the next page lists memory configuartions for Single and Dual Channel and it clearly state that for Dual Channel (1) you should use A_1 and B_1. This is what I had, but I tried A_2 and B_2 as well.

EDIT - As I suspected, that put it into Single Channel mode and really affected performance noticably
