Windows 10: RAM usage without app opened.

Hello guys I have a question about my laptop's ram usage without a single app opened. My laptop model is FX505DY and the Windows version is Windows 10 Home Single Language 20H2 with 8GB RAM.Below is the screenshot of RAM usage without an app opened.Is it normal for my laptop to eat up almost half of the RAM with no app opened?Thanks for clearing my doubt!

Unknown Constant RAM Usage

To explore more on RAM usage by processes and see in-depth I advise you to open the Resource monitor, please follow the below steps.

Step 1 :

Open Task Manager

Step 2:

Click on Performance

Step 3:

At the bottom click on Open Resource Monitor

Step 4:

Under Resource Monitor windows click on Memory

Step 5:

Click on Working Set to list the top process utilizing the more RAM and then evaluate RAM usage.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

RAM usage

RAM usage is not just about what are the programs that are currently open. You also have to consider the other programs and services running in the background. Try to launch the task manager and click on the Memory header to sort the list from Highest to Lowest based on memory usage. From it, you will find out which app or services are using most of your RAM memory and you can end it from there by right-clicking on it and choose End Task.
