Windows 10: Ran full scan at MSERT.EXE, while running showed 12 "files infected" but when finished...

Ran a full scan with MSERT.EXE. During the scan the site said there were 12 "infected files". But when the scan finished there was no report, just a statement that there were no Problems. So what happened to the 12 "infected files"?

If the Microsoft Safety Scanner shows clean (no detections found) when finished, then it's most likely that MSERT suspected a possible threat during the scan, displayed it as such (infected files) but determined the file(s) were not an actual confirmed threat(s) upon completion.

Keep in mind that Microsoft Safety Scanner (MSERT) is intended to be a supplement to an existing anti-virus program (not a replacement).

 

I ran MSERT got strange results.

I ran MSERT and while it was running it found 9 infected files I walked away when I came back it was finish and stated it found no infected files. Does it fix them or what

Hello All, thanks for your responses.

I downloaded the MSERT from Microsoft support and there's

only 3 options to scan. Quick scan, Full scan and Quick scan with

a custom file addition. The first Quick scan showed 232 infections

while scanning as I stated. Well I ran a full scan and found 243 while

scanning. It seems to be finding the Pups in each scan but DOESN'T

remove them.?

At the root of my problem is. I was hacked last week and want to be sure

I'm clean as possible. Does it sound like MSERT has been helpful? I've locked

down and changed the necessary items.

What's a needed next step? much thanks SK.
