Windows 10: Random black screen and restart, bugcheck 0x0000116 in event viewer

Hey guys, not posted in here before, but having a few issues with my windows 10 installation, had a few problems with the previous installation so formatted and re-installed windows 10 only to be faced with the same issue, so posting here.



below is the BSOD collection and all relevant information.


Issue: black screen randomly happens, can be doing anything from playing a windows store game to just browsing the web, checked the event viewer and each time it happens a bugcheck shows with error 0x116 which is a graphics driver crash and failure to recover, I know that much, so, any hopes of fixing it? Never happened on windows 7, problem is specific to windows 10, tried editing the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/GraphicsDrivers TdrDelay and adding a value to 8 as provided here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2665946

My computer restarted with blue screen after Windows 10 upgrade. I found this in the Event Viewer. The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001a (0x0000000000004477, 0x0000000003327000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000).
A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 091215-12171-01. Please advise.

 

EVENT 1001 - BugCheck - The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.

Lately my computer has been restarting out of nowhere at random times, doesn't show a BSOD it just black screens and restarts.

This is the error that shows on eventviewer:

and the critical error is:

Event 41, Kernel-Power

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

The two instances I remember it crashing was when playing a game and when downloading a file.

Haven't made any changes into hardware/software lately.

Hey there!
The problem is caused by your graphics driver. Run Display Driver Uninstaller(DDU)
Make sure you tick the Uninstall C:/AMD and C:/NIVIDA folders while you are in DDU when you are done running DDU install your graphics driver again and you should be good to go! This is the guide for DDU: Display Driver Uninstaller: How to use - Windows 7 Help Forums

right, an update, I've had my pc on for about a hour now and watching videos on YouTube, playing windows store games and it appears to be working fine, if any issues arise, I'll give you a heads up, but in the meantime, enjoy some rep points *Smile

If it's the same bugcheck run Furmark.

Remember if the temps goes too high stop the test.

 

test ran for about 3 minutes and the temp levelled out at 86c, no artifacts or issues, fans took a while to kick in, only kicked in at high speed at around 70c

 

Hmm, seems normal, what are the temps at idle?

 

36c apparently, I've just checked the logs for furmark and on the top it's saying my GPU is a GTX 660 and further down it's reporting it as a GTX 520 :S

 

Huh, that's odd. Have you done any overclocking to the card?

 

nope, it's been stock speeds since getting it, I've over-clocked my CPU in the past but it resulted in instability so I reverted back to stock speeds, it appears that report was created in 2014 so it's irrelevant, where are the reports stored?

 

I have no idea, LOL!

But try to reset the BIOS settings to normal.
