  1. Random BSOD caused by external hard drive or USB

    Hi Folks,

I have a newly built computer with windows 10 installed, AMD Fx 8350, Asrock 970 pro3 motherboard,650 watt GPU, 7970 HD videocard, everything is plugged in properly, all drivers up to date, AMD Chipset drivers installed as well. I am expierencing 2 issues at the moment. When I plug in my external hard drive in the USB 3.0, it randomly disconnects and connects back up in a second or 2, this gets annoying as I need it to play movies, install programs etc. I have made sure that all the power settings are "do not turn off usb" in the power options. ALso I have made sure that in the device manager, the power management options are all unticked. My other issue is the random BSOD which usually have the error: Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation. With the event data: \Device\HarddiskVolume4 . I have made sure that the external USB is scanned and free from errors with 3rd party software.
This is the other error I get: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. This is the detail:
    Code: System - Provider [ Name] Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power [ Guid] {331C3B3A-2005-44C2-AC5E-77220C37D6B4} EventID 41 Version 6 Level 1 Task 63 Opcode 0 Keywords 0x8000400000000002 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2018-01-12T23:12:05.109562300Z EventRecordID 5044 Correlation - Execution [ ProcessID] 4 [ ThreadID] 8 Channel System Computer DESKTOP-G9A3RL4 - Security [ UserID] S-1-5-18 - EventData BugcheckCode 126 BugcheckParameter1 0xffffffffc0000005 BugcheckParameter2 0xfffff80dd9903aa7 BugcheckParameter3 0xffff9e84efa76738 BugcheckParameter4 0xffff9e84efa75f80 SleepInProgress 0 PowerButtonTimestamp 0 BootAppStatus 0 Checkpoint 0 ConnectedStandbyInProgress false SystemSleepTransitionsToOn 0 CsEntryScenarioInstanceId 0 BugcheckInfoFromEFI true CheckpointStatus 0 [/quote]
The third error is : The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80dd9903aa7, 0xffff9e84efa76738, 0xffff9e84efa75f80). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: c0042f26-a53e-4aa9-9c6c-69d69b8d3e4b. Memory dump attached. EDit: will attach later as I need to sort out the permission crap from windows 10 *Sad

Any help is appreciated it *Smile

Random BSoD on Win10 caused by ntoskrnl.exe or ntkrnlmp.exe

    Hello,

I did verify the Verifier operating using /query everytime to confirm it is working. The output showed checkbox with settings I already applied in Verifier app.

But hopefully this does not matter anymore as during yesterday evening I tested all RAM modules with the memtest you mentioned and I found one faulty module that was incredibly erroring. Now I run only on three sticks with 6GB RAM and left the PC running
overnight with Verifier enabled and there was no crash up to now. It's been working without any crash for more than 15 hours. This sounds really promising.

None of the 5 appear to have had verifier enabled. What were the results when you ran verifier /query?

Random BSOD caused by external hard drive or USB

Possibly, but it also depends on the voltages the PSU provides, there are many that fail with the voltages.

  9. I have tested it out with a 9590fx and 390x with my mates computer and its working fine, his 750w PSU was doing the same thing with my PC! *Sad
