    Random BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0x0000000a)

I keep getting a BSOD reading IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL along with instances where my computer just locks up completely. It happens at random and I haven't been able to figure out what's causing it. If my computer doesn't lock up on startup or crashes during use it runs fine without problems. Event Logs list the bugcheck code as 0x0000000a (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff8015f2f42b0). I've attached the zip as instructed.

    :)

    0x0000000a "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" BSOD in hal.dll

    Hi Sangeeta,

My graphics drivers are updated and I also updated audio drivers when I updated to Windows 10. Checking Gigabyte's site, there is a new version of the audio drivers released in August. I'll install these and let you know if I get the error again.

My Windows installation is up to date.

I use the free version of Malwarebytes along with Windows Defender for anti-virus.

This was the first time I've had this error, so it's hard to tell. I am able to load the game without crashes now, so it's probably not an issue with the game. Audio does stutter a bit when the loading process finishes, but otherwise it's fine. (this is
    before updating the drivers)

    Thanks for the reply.

    0x0000000a "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" BSOD in hal.dll

    Hi,

Today I was loading a game (Cities: Skylines) and just as it loaded, the audio output started buzzing and then a BSOD appeared with the message "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".

Here's a picture of the contents of the dump file in Bluescreenview: (You can download the dump file

    here.
    )

I also noticed that there was an error in the Bugcheck section of Event viewer. I'm not sure if it's redundant to the dump file, but I've uploaded it here
    anyway.

    Computer specs:

    Processor: AMD FX 8150

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P

Memory: 8GB(4x2GB) Micron (no more information on this, it came out of an HP computer so I don't know anything other than what's on the stick)

Storage: 120GB Samsung 840 EVO (OS drive), 1TB Seagate Barracuda, 500GB Samsung 850 EVO

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7950

OS: Windows 10 Home 64 bit

I've just had another one with a different error. It said PFN_LIST_CORRUPT but won't let me boot up past the loading screen, it just locks up before I can log in. If I manage to get in I'll try uploading a new dump. Till then I hope the current one will suffice.

Warning Programs that claim to update your drivers install either the wrong or corrupted drivers.
If you have installed any driver with Driver Booster 3, please remove them as it may cause trouble.
An easy way to get remove these drivers is by using a restore point prior the installation.

I'll look into buying a full set of memory models so they don't conflict, if you have any suggestions as to what I should get I'd love to hear it otherwise I'll assume any 8GB set will do. As for the anti-virus are you sure Windows Defender will be fine? I've heard a lot of negative things about it and I guess I'm a little paranoid. As for Driver Booster 3 I've used it for some time and have lost track of what I've updated with it, I also couldn't find a restore point.

    Random BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0x0000000a)

The Windows Defender many usually talk about is the Windows 7 version which isn't a proper protection setup because it is only an anti-spyware program and not an anti-virus. Since Windows 8 it has been redesigned as the built-in anti-virus program where its functionality has been improved a lot, with Windows 10 it also has been improved a lot in its scans.

Windows Defender is THE best AV program we recommend when it comes to stability, all other AV programs (Avira, AVG, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Avast, McAfee, BullGuard, etc.) are requested to be removed when we ask to do so with the reason that we identify it as a possible cause for one or multiple BSOD crashes.

In the situation of no restore point prior to Driver Booster 3 I would strongly recommend to perform a clean installation of Windows
    Windows 10 - Clean Install - Windows 10 Forums.
Most of the drivers you need are provided by the motherboard/laptop manufacturer. Drivers for GPU, mouse, keyboard, headset and other peripheral are to be downloaded and installed from the official support page from the manufacturer.
Windows sometimes also provides drivers, those may be used too so long as you don't try to install drivers from Windows Update and the manufacturer of the device or the laptop/motherboard.
