    Random BSODs after upgrade

    Hello everyone!

I have a pretty old computer, 775 socket which I recently upgraded by replacing my memory and CPU, adding 3x2 GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800MHz and Xeon E5440 (771 to 775 mod).
Since then I have experienced random BSODs where some of them had minidumps and some have just been resets or freezes.
I was running a few years old Win7 so I decided to do a clean install of Win10. Win10 recognized all of my hardware except my Logictech G1 keyboard so I just to installed Logitech Gaming Software for it.
BSODs continued to happen after Win10 instalation (before and after instalation of Logitech Gaming Software).

    I have done the following:
    • Tested memory 2 times for several hours with memtest86+ with no errors
    • Tested the processor with Linx with no failures
    • Used WinDbg to get any information from minidumps

Since I have encountered diffrent information from minidumps, I'm getting a bit lost. It looks too random to me and I can't pinpoint the cause, so I was hoping that more experienced people here can help or guide me.

    Thanks!

    :)

Hello, after i upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10, i am getting those random BSOD screens. First i thought it was my usb wifi adapter, cause it was supported only for win 7 up, but after upgrade i am still getting those BSOD errors. Can anyone help me
where is the problem ? There are dump files, just bother with the last one from 7.8.2015 - that is the new after USB wifi adapter changed.

What is your computer make and model? If not a branded computer what is your motherboard make and model?

Please download and run Driver View and upload a copy of the report it produces to your OneDrive.

    DriverView: Loaded Windows Drivers List

Please provide a copy of your System Information file.
To access your System Information file select the keyboard shortcut
    Win+R
, type msinfo32 and press the ENTER
key. Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located.
Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for

    Random BSODs after upgrade

    Hi Truly,

    Welcome to the 10forums *Smile

Could you provide a link of your CPU showing that it supports 775 socket? I can only find your CPU supporting 771 socket.

    Hi axe0,

    Thanks for the welcome *Smile

The CPU is really a 771 socket as you can see here Intel Processor E5440 (12M Cache, 2.83 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB) Specifications
The way I managed to make it work in my 775 motherboard is by modding it, described here LGA 771 to 775 Adapter (MOD) - Run faster Xeon CPUs in a Core 2 Quad motherboard
To be more precise I have already bought it prepared for 775 socket and I have added appropriate microcodes in BIOS so that the operating system can recognize full instruction set of the CPU.
Both BIOS and Win10 properly recognized the CPU.

    Hope that this helps.

    Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know that I have managed to solve the problem.

It was the memory after all. Although the Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800MHz is not defective or faulty (passes several hours of memtest86+) it has problems working with my motherboard.
As soon as replaced it with my old 4x1 Kingston DDR2 1066MHz there are no BSODs for more than 2 weeks.

Just for the sake of being sure, I have tried again with Corsair and as soon as I reinstalled the memory I had a BSOD.
