Windows 10: Random button icon

I’ve installed a driver from edup.com, for a USB wifi adapter. During installation, I noticed a flickering on one of my monitors red square bg with a white x in the middle. It looked a bit weird, but I’ve already met in the past pop-up windows lasting for milliseconds during installation. So I didn’t worry too much. Only that this time it didn’t go away. I had a tiny, white x on my desktop. When I click on something, the red bg appears again. I’ve cut the internet and uninstalled anything related to this product, but the ‘x’ is still there. I started a full scan, and after almost 3 hours Bit

but your suggestion did not work.When i turn off home button in Edge and re-open Edge and turn on home button ...the home icon appears but fades away when Edge is re-opened.

I even uninstalled Edge and re-installed Edge following a fellow members suggestion tutorial but this step did not work either.

The workaround is not a solution as I stated. It merely create an button on the Favorite Bar!

Please follow davidhk's suggestion. You may have to run SFC /scannow three times in order to correct the file corruption problem!

 

Random BSOD while browsing internet


BitDefender is nothing special. mwac.sys causes BSODs anywhere.

In that very thread, the suggested action apparently worked.

The storage and network filters of any third party antivirus can cause BSODs. Neither MBAM nor BitDefender is any special. For a regular antivirus, it may be shifted to an alternative; but MBAM has no alternative. So a clean install of the said program is the most feasible first step.
As far as the first step is not failing, it is better to not think for the second step. Because the BSODs are not universal, failure at the first step is not universal; and success at the second step is also not universal.
That is why I posted that my suggestion may work, or may not. Let us see where it goes.
