Windows 10: random buzzing sound from speakers

My windows 10 HP Envy laptop started making this random crackling, buzzing sound that slowly gets worse over time. according to the device manager, the speakers are RealtekR Audio. The noise only stops for good if I put the volume to 0. It still makes the noise if I just hit mute without lowering the volume to 0. When I uninstalled every device that produces sound on the laptop, It doesn't fix it. When I went to control panel, under sound and selected the speaker to check it's properties and then unticked audio enhancements, the speakers still makes the noise.

What do I do?

Random buzzing sound appeared after I plugged in a headset while having speakers connected.

Reinstalling drivers initially worked, except that Adobe Audition could not play audio files. (It still does not work.)

This was a few days ago. Then, after today's major Win update, the problem reappeared.

Have tried all driver reinstallation possibilities.

Have tried switching speakers.

Have tried disabling LAN and WiFi.

Have tried changing speaker level and sampling frequency,as well as disabling all enhancements.

Nothing works.

 

Random total freeze with buzzing sound from speakers

There are no crash dump files included in the logs although your eventlog does show that you have had some recent 0x124 hardware related BSOD events. Other than giving you the generic troubleshooting approach for hardware related issues there is not a lot I can do to help.

If you're overclocking your system, revert back to stock clocks now.

TWO [/i] RAM TEST

Note



MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.




THREE [/i] HDD TEST
*Arrow Run HDTune to

• check the health,
• scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
• run a benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following

• the health,
• the error scan,
• the benchmark incl. following
  • transfer rate,
  • access time,
  • burst rate,
  • cpu usage.

FOUR [/i] GPU TEST

Note Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.


Warning Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

 

dead GPU and speaker buzz

It is not likely the speaker damaged other hardware but the buzz does suggest a grounding problem somewhere. If you unplug the 3.5mm plug from the computer's sound output jack, does the buzz go away? If so, then I suspect the speaker's electronics and the computer are not at the same common ground potential. This could be due to a damaged audio cable or damaged power cable for the speaker, or something internal to the speaker's electronics.

If the sound remains when you unplug the speakers from the computer, then clearly there's an issue in the speakers.

If you plug in a set of headphones to the computer, do you hear the buzz? If so, then you have a problem with the computer's audio.
