Random computer crashes since new Graphics card (No BSOD)

    Hi all,

I figured that this was the best place to post this, even though there isn't technically a BSOD.

    AWESOME-BLOSSOM.zip.zip

My problems started shortly after I installed my new graphics card back in March of this year. After a couple of weeks, my computer would randomly restart (sometimes once a day, sometimes on power up 5 or 6 times in a row) from idle state, under load, etc. At the time, I had some old crappy sticks of RAM, so I assumed that it was a memory issue without too much troubleshooting. Obviously, this did not remedy my problem.

The crash/restart/hang happens a couple different ways: -Screen locks up and the power button turns it off immediately (no holding button down to turn it off)
-Screen goes black and I have to hold button down to turn it off
-Screen goes black and can turn it off by pressing button (like first issue)

Ok, now to what I have done to troubleshoot (not in any particular order):

-Fresh install of Windows 10 (keep files option and clean install)
    -Stress Tests(FurMark, and HeavyLoad mainly)
-Removing GPU and GPU Drivers and used onboard graphics (this one bears mentioning that I had no crashes but sometimes my computer will go days between crashes so I didn't feel that was definitive in any way. I feel like I should've fleshed this on out more)
-Removed pump from Processor and reapplied thermal paste
    -Removed RAM and reinserted
-Removed GPU several times and reinserted (bears mentioning its on a riser since I have a weird case)
    -Ran SSD utilities (including CrystalDisk)
-A couple of other things that I'm sure I've forgotten since I began (shoulda kept a log)

Anyways, I hope that's enough info. I'm really at my wits end with this since sometimes it happens several times in a 5 minute span along with the fact that there is no BSOD to get errors from for troubleshooting.

    Thanks for the help everyone!

    Jason

    graphics card problems

    Hi,

Your computer makes a noise or beeps from your internal speaker because it failed to detect the graphics card. What we can suggest is for you to try cleaning your graphics card with a pencil eraser. Here are the steps below:

    • Turn your computer off.
    • Pull out your video/graphics card.
    • Rubbed the cold contacts with soft pencil eraser.
    • Connect your video/graphics card back to the computer.
Kindly note that this is just a temporary fix. If the case still continues, I suggest that you contact your graphics card's manufacturer.

Let us know how it goes.

    Random crashes on new computer

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Followed all steps and haven't received a crash yet but as I said before, its random.

NZXT CAM O.C. was never used but I use it for lighting and fan regulation.
I have OCCT installed but have never even launched it.
I've overclocked slightly on AORUS Engine but reset to default / silent mode for testing here.
Ryzen 5 is also slightly overclocked (one click UEFI optimal setting @ 3800)

Furmark overclock seemed quite stable at 68C which is fairly normal at that GPU usage.

    Random BSOD while browsing internet

BitDefender is nothing special. mwac.sys causes BSODs anywhere.
A tiny documentation can be found here: Solved Random BSODs - Windows 10 Forums
In that very thread, the suggested action apparently worked.

The storage and network filters of any third party antivirus can cause BSODs. Neither MBAM nor BitDefender is any special. For a regular antivirus, it may be shifted to an alternative; but MBAM has no alternative. So a clean install of the said program is the most feasible first step.
As far as the first step is not failing, it is better to not think for the second step. Because the BSODs are not universal, failure at the first step is not universal; and success at the second step is also not universal.
That is why I posted that my suggestion may work, or may not. Let us see where it goes.
