    Random Drive Corruption SSD/HDD

Over the past 1-2ish years, my SSD has randomly just corrupted forcing me to attempt to fix. Usually, trying to fix it does not work and I'm forced to wipe it, I know I shouldn't be doing this constantly but I'm literally forced to. Also, before I had my SSD, all I had was a 1tb hard drive and that had the same problem, although less often. Just today, however, it seems like my MFT itself seems to have been corrupted. Previously, for my SSD, the problem was in the windows bootloader and I was able to offload my files onto my second drive. Would anyone know a possible reason that this corruption is happening? I would think nothing of it other than being a random fluke, but it has happened around 4-5 times now to both my SSD and HDD, and it happens almost on schedule. I've been having problems with driver crashes in my games, but they have since died down and I do not think that could be the main cause. I've been with AMD support and could do nothing to fix it,. Nothing that I am downloading, at least, not that I'm aware of, could be causing this. The last thing I could guess is a hardware problem. I'm also here to ask if I may be wrong in what I think. I hope I am because I do not want to buy a new SSD. I like to think of myself as a tech-savvy person, but this has completely stumped me. Thank you for any support you offer.

If you need any info, I'll be happy to provide it.

  3. HDD Corrupt ?

    Hi,

There are many possible reasons this issue is happening. We'd like to ask few questions below:

    • What is the brand name of you Hard Disk Drive?
    • How old is the HDD?
Since you already tried multiple troubleshooting steps, we suggest visiting the manufacturer's website. Find and download a hard drive diagnostic software to help resolve the issue.

Let us know how it goes.

  4. Random Drive Corruption SSD/HDD

OS on new SSD, keep existing data on HDD and use as external drive

    Hi,

use steps you suggested, there should be no problem.

Just replace HDD with SSD first then run installation. Do not forget to remove Windows files from HDD after the end of a process.
