Windows 10: Random extreme lag spikes with 'very high power usage' in Windows 10.

Since several weeks my PC is having a strange problem: several times a day it gets extremely laggie, where every key I strike on the keyboard and every movement with the mouse is either lagging behind or completely freezing for about 5-10 seconds. This happens when doing nothing in particular at all, and it does not seem at all related to computational burden; e.g. it could happen when just scrolling the internet or typing in a Word document, without any particular applications running in the background. When assessing the task manager, the main thing I notice is that there is often 1 of multiple applications showing 'very high' power usage see screenshot, sometimes together with high CPU or RAM usage, but sometimes also with just ~1% for both. It is important to note that this is almost always a different application, e.g. a random windows background process, explorer.exe, Word or Spotify. I've already tried most common diagnostic utilities, but couldn't detect any problem in my hard drives, bios, GPU, RAM etc.. Could it have something to do with my power supply? Does anyone have a clue on how to proceed?

Random lag spikes

Hi,

We would like to know more about your lag issue:

• What browser are you using when you experience a lag?
• Does the lag occur in a particular game?

In the meantime, we suggest you run the System Maintenance troubleshooter. Here are the steps:

• Press Windows Key + X.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• On the left pane, click on View All.
• Click on System Maintenance to run the troubleshooter.

Extremely high (100%) Disk Usage - Windows 10

Hello,

From sometime in October, after an update, there have been periods, sometimes intermittent, sometime persisting for a long time, when Disk usage spikes up to 100%, and makes a lot of things unusable.

I did some researching, and disabled a bunch of stuff, like Windows notifications, Windows search, background intelligent transfer and superfetch, even OneDrive, but even on Windows 10 version 1511, Disk usage spikes to 100%, the offending application / service
being anything from System to memory compression to 3rd party applications...

This is becoming extremely irritating, on certain occasions, the PC has been virtually unusable due to disk usage, and Windows often displays wretched performance.

The PC is a high powered laptop, and the drivers are updated as per latest OEM specifications.

Performing a clean boot did not solve the problem. Sometimes cutting off the internet drops the high usage, but other times, it does not help either. I have run out of ideas on how to solve this issue. Chkdsk and other disk checks do not report any error.

Could anyone suggest a remedy for this? Barring a system reset...it used to work fine before an update in mid - October. Subsequent updates have had no positive results. Even this post took quite some time to type and actually post, because of the disk usage
spike.

Random Mouse Lag Spikes - Windows 10

So recently I have upgraded to Windows 10 and I immediately noticed random/periodic lag spikes in my mouse, especially while playing games. Are there any fixes to this problem or is a fix going to be released in a near update?
