Windows 10: Random file explorer icon, opens to a tab I have open in chromium edge

I use virtual desktops and chromium microsoft edge. Recently, I've been getting these random file explorer icons that pop up on my toolbar. Clicking them brings me to the tab, and closing it from the toolbar also closes the tab. However, reopening the tab by hitting ctrl+shift+t causes the icon to pop back up. Any ideas why this happens, or how I can stop this? This has only been happening since I updated to 20h2.

why are random tabs opening up in Edge for no reason

Hi,

I understand the inconvenience you are facing. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I suggest you clear the Clear browsing data option
of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

• Click on the More actions (…) icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
• Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
• Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files
  and click on Clear.

Note: You may try to check if the issue persist in the private browsing. Open the EDGE browser, Click on the
More actions (…) button on top right corner of EDGE and click on
New InPrivate Window to browse the internet in private Window.

Edge opens with File explorer

When I click on the Edge Icon, it opens with "File explorer" "Quick Access"

Edge used to open with my selected pages, but suddenly changed last night.

 

When I start Edge Chromium to tabs open ?

For some reason when I open Edge Chromium it opens two tabs. Both instances of Edge run fine. I just choose one, close the other either, and move on. It has me wondering is there a simple fix for this ?
